Painting , Sculpture
I grew up in southern West Virginia on a farm and always appreciated the smallest and largest blessings from nature. I started sketching early but did not pick up the oil paint brush until much later. What inspired me was watching the late Bob Ross paint his happy trees on Saturday mornings. The first few years of painting were a struggle because I had no art classes. I did not give up and recently I feel like I have found my groove.
For my day job I work in the high stress area of software sales. It requires a lot of travel. When I have the opportunity, I sit in my make shift studio painting. It helps me decompress and buffers all the outside noise. Many people are surprised that I can find the time to paint and are pleasantly surprised at the results.. They say things like, “You are also an artist?” It makes me smile.
I have sold many paintings across the country, and each painting I complete inspires me to paint the next. I enjoy painting traditional scenes of seascapes, landscapes, barns, churches, houses, wildlife, dolphins and even a horse or two. I am amazed at nature’s artesian visual dances, and I attempt to capture those qualities in my paintings. Living in the Shenandoah Valley, I am inspired by the beautiful sights that surround me and I constantly hear the refrain, “paint me.” It keeps me busy!
I invite you to come into the Fire House Gallery and Shop and view my art along with all the other talented people who display there.
