Sometimes great things come from the strangest places. I love working in stained glass – that is a given. Most often, the glass plays perfectly with the light; at other times, the colors and textures lead us in another direction.
While doing traditional stained glass, I have found classical mosaic and, better yet, not-so-classical, stained glass mosaic. By bringing these mediums together, I can create something fresh and new. The best part of this adventure is that I can take one thing and give it an entirely new life as something else. This is just the beginning ….enjoy!
It all started with a Saturday morning class about 15 years ago, when I was told I would either love doing stained glass or I would hate it! Well, I love it! What started out as a get-out-of-the-house hobby blossomed and evolved not only into a profession, but a form of personal expression as well.
I am also exploring glass-on-glass mosaics.
I find the freedom allowed with this medium to be especially engaging. I can utilize my glass cutting skills from traditional stained glass work and incorporate classical mosaic techniques. It is the best of both worlds.
